A native of the Pacific Northwest, DAVID QUIGGLE studied at the Vancouver Academy of Music, and graduated with distinction from the New England Music Conservatory, where he studied viola and viola d’amore with Walter Trampler, and chamber music with Louis Krasner and Eugene Lehner. In 1992 he moved to Spain, where he established himself as principal violist of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia until 1995. From 1995-99, he was solo violist and instrumental director of the “Taller Instrumental del Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporaneo.” Mr. Quiggle was the violist of the Cuarteto Casals, earning first prizes at the 2000 London International String Quartet Competition and at the Hamburg Brahms Society’s 2002 quartet competition. With the quartet he toured Europe and America, playing at Festivals like the Londres Fesival, Schleswig-Holstein, Luberon, Bath, Fane, Hannover Musiktagen, Citta di Castello, Schubertiada in Barcelona, and the Liceo de Camara in Madrid, among others. He has given recitals at the Guggenheim in New York, the American Academy in Rome, in Contemporary Music Festivals in Lisbon, Oporto, Granada and Barcelona, the Ecuela de Verano “Ciudad de Lucena” and the Universities of Cleveland and Buffalo.
